Was our God Still Speaking today? I think so! God was speaking to us through our wonderful community of faithful servants in worship and fellowship before and after the service. The blessings we received today were numerous!! God bless Van for providing a tasty snack before worship,God bless all who worked so hard to make the pork tenderloin meal a success (a sold out meal I might add), God bless all who walked through the open doors and worshiped our Lord this morning, and God bless those who were in the fields as they harvest their crops, those who are ill, and those named and unnamed who were unable to be with us this morning. There are good things happening at Republic UCC. "Never put a period where God put a comma". God is Still Speaking to us here and now. Can you hear it? Shhhhh,,,,,,listen,,,,,,,,look,,,,,,,,feel,,,,,,,,love, compassion, justice, kindness,,,,,,,keep listening,,,,,,,God is with us always.

"People were also bringing babies to Jesus. They wanted him to touch them. When the disciples saw this, they told the people to stop. But Jesus asked the children to come to him. "Let the little children come to me," he said. "Don't keep them away. God's kingdom belongs to people like them."
The doors of the church were open with an extravagent welcome to Republic's little trick or treaters! As the children and their parents came to the doors of the church dressed in their best Halloween costume they were welcomed, given an invitation to worship and Sunday school and were treated to cider and donuts, hot coffee and what would trick or treat be without candy! There was fellowship and fun galore as we rang the church bell and enjoyed the beautiful crisp air of fall with the community. God blessed us with wonderful weather and the smiles and laughter of little children. For more pictures of the fun and fellowship click on the Multimedia tab above. As a pastor, I find one of the greatest joys is visiting with members and friends of our congregation who are in a nursing home or assisted living. The fascinating conversation, the smiles on their faces, sharing their joys and their concerns and worries, and talking with them about their journey of faith together, or just sitting and being present with them is an honor and a privilege.
If you want to make a difference in someone's life today, take a few moments out of your day and stop in to visit one of God's children in your local nursing home or assisted living. It will make all the difference in their life and yours. Peace and Blessings, Pastor Darla ![]() I want to thank all who helped plan, organize and work at the Soup and Sandwich Food Pantry Benefit today. It is such a joy to see everyone working together and worshiping together in Christ's name for such a good and worthy cause. And what a successful event! There were 546 non-perishable food items collected today (900 items to date) and $700 in monetary donations for the Republic Food Pantry. The generosity of our church family and the local community never ceases to amaze me! Today 24 families (81 men, women and children) will benefit from your hard work and the generosity of strangers. Today, we saw just a glimpse of the goodness and love of God. May the peace of God be with you all, Pastor Darla What a glorious day and worship service yesterday! The sanctuary was spirit filled as we joined together for a wonderful meal at the Lord's Table, the choir was fantastic and the children's smiles were awesome! As I sat at the front of sanctuary looking out I could not help but give thanks to God and tell our Lord that I must be the luckiest Pastor in the world!! A resurrecting moment indeed.
Go forth into the world and do the work of Christ. This video is a marvelous reminder. So much to be done. This Sunday churches throughout the world will share in World Wide Communion. A time when we are able to come together as one body of Christ and share Christ's love, grace and many blessings given to all of God's children. All are welcome to the table of the Lord. No matter who you are, or where you are on life's journey, you're welcome here, welcome to the feast that awaits you at the table of God. What does Holy Communion, The Lord's Supper or the Eucharist mean to you? Be A Soup'er Supporter for the Republic UCC Food Pantry - Sunday, October 16th 11:30 - 1:309/24/2011 ![]() October 2nd we will begin our Mission 1 project to bring hunger awareness to the community and the world. All non-perishable food items donated to the church will be given to the Republic UCC Food Pantry and will count toward our friendly competition between Fireside UCC, Community UCC (Fort Seneca), and St. John's UCC (Fostoria). October 16th Republic UCC will host a Soup and Sandwich luncheon to benefit the food pantry as well. Charge for the lunch is a donation of a non-perishable food item or monetary donation for the food pantry and the lunch will run from 11:30 - 1:30. It is so wonderful that we are able to join together as a community of Christ to help those who may be struggling and in need of the support of others. May God bless each of you as we journey together to fight hunger in our community! This video was emailed to me and I continue to stand in awe of God's creation. Check it out below. |
